About Us
Seawing is a members flying club located at Southend Airport. We pride ourselves in being a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing members and students with low cost flight training and aircraft hire.
Whether you are looking to become a commercial pilot or simply looking for an exciting hobby, Seawing is the perfect place to train for your pilots license, and realise your dream of becoming a pilot.
Established in the 1970s, a small group of Civil Servants started a flying group and obtained financial help from the Civil Service to buy a Cessna 150, dear old G-AVAP. The Group operated from a caravan “off” the field beyond what is now holding point “Delta”. These were very small beginnings with just a single aircraft.
By the 1980s, Seawing had many aircraft, an on-going RAF Cadet contract, FIC training, a large membership and excellent social functions! Over the years Seawing has remained a consistent provider of flight training at Southend Airport, with a history of nearly 50 years.
As Southend Airport has expanded, so has Seawing, which today has its own dedicated clubhouse on the South Side of the runway, ideally located for quick and easy departures.
Today the club continues to be a busy, friendly and professional organization, and we welcome you to become a member. Please contact us to become a member.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!
