Seawing Flyout & Campout to Sandown: Sunshine, Skylanes, and a Seriously Good Time

If you’re still wondering how aviation and adventure blend into a perfect weekend, the answer is simple: join Seawing.

Last weekend, Seawing pulled off one of its most memorable flyouts yet — a campout extravaganza to Sandown, on the Isle of Wight. With blue skies above and a buzz of excitement in the air, eleven aircraft flew in, carrying a whopping 26 pilots and passengers ready to make the most of what turned into an unforgettable weekend.

The field at Sandown quickly turned into a hive of activity as aircraft lined up in the sun, tents were pitched, and old friends reunited (or met for the first time) over shared hangar tales and a shared love of flying. The runway may have been the destination, but for many, the real magic began the moment the wheels stopped turning.

We kicked things off with wood-fired pizzas straight from the airfield café, washed down with cold beers as the sun dipped low over the Solent. As night fell, things got… lively. Those who camped overnight enjoyed what can only be described as a hilariously drunken evening — full of laughter, storytelling, and a few slightly wobbly walks back to their tents. The camaraderie? Unbeatable. The hangovers? Manageable (just about).

There’s something incredibly special about flying in, camping out, and spending quality time with fellow aviators. It’s these moments that make flying more than just a hobby — they make it a way of life.

If your flying club or school doesn’t do this sort of thing… ask them why not. And if they can’t give you a good answer, maybe it’s time to think about joining Seawing. We don’t just fly — we build memories, share experiences, and know how to have a seriously good time doing what we love.

Here’s to many more adventures in the sky and nights under wings.

Blue skies and good vibes,
The Seawing Team
